It would be a bowler's dream to bowl the last over as maiden in ODI's and this dream had come true only for a few cricketers.
- The first instance of a bowler bowling a last over maiden happened in 1990-91 when Australia required two to win of the last over against New Zealand in Hobart. Chris Pringle bowled five dots on the trot and the the batsman, Bruce Reid was run out on the last ball of the over. This is still one of the finest last overs ever bowled in cricket history.
- It took almost 16 years for this to happen again. Sri Lanka required 13 runs to win from the last over against South Africa in 2006 at Adelaide. Andrew Hall just conceeded a single leg-bye in the over.
- Recently, Pakistan just needed 1 to win of the last over with two wickets remaining. Glenn Maxwell bowled a double wicket maiden. Pringle too did the same in 1990 but he was a genuine bowler not a part time bowler like Maxwell.
